Haven't played in a while, went from Ancient 1 to Archon 4 after calibration. Is this common? in General Discussion

I forgot about Dota for a while, so I am a bit rusty now, but to lose so much despite a decent win-lose ratio during calibration was surprising. I guess the system takes off extra points for staying offline for so long.

Yes and average skill got a little bit higher. I have troubles maintaining divine although I was divine 5 at some point. Also we get older, not that good reactions anymore. Thats why its better playing supports when you get older imo.

Ancient 1 a year ago is somewhere in legend now. The average of mmr for certain ranks is rising. A year ago I was divine 1 with 4600 mmr, that is 4800 or something like that now. the closer you get to legend 1 the bigger the mmr disparity due to the nature of statistics. The ranks are basically percentile points of the ladder. The average player is probably archon 4/5 (as in 50th percentile).
