It really depends on your objective when playing dota? Are you only playing to get high MMR? If so I think you should revaluate, just enjoy the game. You say you want to reach archon but when you do you'll want legend and so on. Your current MMR is no doubt the most fun place in dota (or it should be), people should genuinely just want to have fun there and are not playing to win or to climb.
Kowareta is correct, just enjoy.

Watch your own replays, ask yourself questions. Read the description for abilities and items. Easy Legend.
Example for question: In a game with no evasion heroes in enemy, ask yourself why you made the mkb.
I appreciate all the advice guys! I also appreciate being told to just have fun with it. I sometimes feel a bit bad that I put so much time into this game and I'm still below average, but at the end of the day I guess it is just a game and I should just enjoy myself.
You should stop wasting your time. There's nothing to gain from playing DOTA 2, only loss.
There's fun to be had in Dota, the only thing is, You need to be good to be able to enjoy the game.
Playing a strategy game on auto pilot is gonna get boring soon. Try actually thinking while playing.

Apart from dabbling here and there I haven't played Dota regularly for 2 or 3 years but I'm coming back now and really enjoying myself. I'm still halfway through calibrating at the moment but judging by who I'm getting matched with I'm going to end up being about Guardian 2 or 3, which makes sense because I've always been a bit shit haha. My problem is pure practice probably won't help because I don't really understand what I'm doing wrong.
I used to love watching Purge back in the day and will go back to watching him now but I was wondering are there any other really good resources or youtubers for learning to get better at my level? Watching pros does nothing for me because that style of play is on such another level to my understanding of the game. I also see a lot of videos that claim to teach you how to get immortal with a few simple tricks and that just sounds like BS to me. I'd love even just to reach Archon or something, nothing crazy.
