I don’t care where Dota starts. Everyone has a different opinion. Dota is playable at every level. This is about differences and there will always be differences.
ya dota is very joyable when ur offlaner picking enchantress
dota is very playble when 3 time in row, ur fucking support blaming u for farming creeps in first 5 min of game , when u are fucking playing lycan and have no kill potential before HOD, very fun game when ur support diving like a retard to enemy and dying then blaming u why u farming lane and ur not helping me, sitting in jungle afterwards and ruining the whole game cause u farmed the lane instead of chasing like 4k dogs, funnier thing is u dont have fucking stun even, and enemy can tp base while u are chasing him
dota is very fun when ur teammate picking shaker against lycan and one man echo drow ranger with aegis, and then lycan getting all towers
yeah
this is 4k, very skillful players, fun to play with them, i want to be 4k forever and have this fun for my next games :)
yeah, tnx for saying the obvious things , there is always differences, but here is my point:
i dont care if 4k is top 10%, i dont care if avg dota players are archon, if u cant hold ur fucking ult with shaker against a fucking lycan and u are using it against a fuckign solo drow, u are a fucking ape, doesnt matter u are in the top 10% of apes in the world, u are an ape!
My 2 cents as a coach for players that are much better mechanically than I am (they're all top 300 EU or less) - most people under 5k don't play Dota2 at all.
They play a fucked up version of an MMO, where they hit creeps until they're strong enough to PvP.
If all lanes are won they will snowball & stomp ; control the map to the extent of their knowledge and abilities & proceed to win, because of dubious plays from the team that's behind.
Most Dota2 games follow this pattern, since even bad players can single out the worst or easiest player in the game to kill and will rinse and repeat.
Supports warding alone all the time, trying to reclaim vision without smokes or help from the team. Carry players that constantly overextend their welcome and get picked off without buybacks etc.
Under 5k players don't smoke - don't ward in specific places depending on the moment of the game & the objectives you're aiming for - don't cut lanes unless the hero does it very easily (Ember/AM/QoP etc) - don't instantly punish people staying behind or never ever take fights on the enemy side of the map if they're losing.
It's POINTLESS to take a fight in your base unless they're coming for it & you're ready ; that means buybacks & the right items/placement - always fight on the enemy side of the map if you're behind ! If you lose the fight, you have TIME - if you win the fight you're closer to the objectives you need to take.
Players also rarely rotate to the extent they should. Even Chen players at 6k don't abuse the teleport enough to my liking since they could TP me > Gank > TP top > TP me > Gank > I go back to wherever the fuck I was.
Basically people just hit creeps, towers, heroes till they're stronger than the enemy ; 99.9% of players have no clue how to win a losing game or how and when to end a game.
The biggest skill difference is 5k to ~6500 not only mechanically but also in terms of game sense and knowledge. It's the hardest knowledge to acquire and use efficiently ; even a 1k player can get to 4k in a single year if he learns enough.
Most 5k players will never make it to 6500 in a year or two unless they're incredibly talented & very new (less than 2 years) to the game and it's genre.
Also... items... most of you build shit for items since you cookie-cutter in 95% of the games ! Even CNP who loves his Radiance build knows when he can and can't do it. Itemize depending on the heroes you're against, not the hero you're playing as.
TL;DR
5k to ~6k5 is the biggest skill gap!
Players in general in Dota2:
- don't think for the most part ; a lot is intuitive but requires the knowledge before hand
- don't understand powerspikes and a lot of them farm at the moment they're strongest
- don't use smokes, don't place wards correctly
- don't itemize for the situation (wrong items very often on nearly every role)
- don't know when to end a game or how to stall and play the map for time
- know how to win a winning game ; don't know how to win a losing game
The takeaway is that people don't see Dota2 as a holistic game - which it is.
I won't talk about picks because this is just hopeless for 99.9% of the Dota2 community.
Smurfs are not rare. However those are mostly people that are max 3k mmr & smurf at 1-2k for stomping. High lvl smurfs are indeed very rare till 4k mmr.
dota starts from 7k bois
@abyss
i'm not even that good wtf
Iranian apes are not the same as Russian apes.

Dota starts when u start buying quelling blade ON THE FUCKING SIDELANE
@honestly
literally everyone does this in 2k-3k, you must have boosters on your team if they are buying QB as starting item in ancient 3
winnie the pooh
I remember getting raged at by opponents because I was smoke ganking and tp rotating back when I was 2K MMR. Beautiful. Haha
For pro players Dota starts from top 100 and everyone below is an ape
