Well first of all we need to know about which hero you are talking about.
As with every support hero: positioning is the key to survival. If you are positioned well the enemy cores take too much time to kill you and they gotta decide. Eiither they kill you and loose the fight or they run back to the fight and forget about you.

Depending on which hero you play, you have to decide when to engage. Most supports have abilities at allow them to contribute to the outcome of fights if you can stay alive, so let your cores engage (unless its a solo gank), but in general stay back and give it a second or two before you go in.
That being said you are and will always be an easy kill. So dying is just part of the game as a 4-5, espicially if the other team has a very mobile gank heavy line-up, all you can do is give as much vision through proper warding as you can and try and remain in resonable distance from a your co-support or a core when farming, to mitigate the danger of being out of position.
You dont have to start engagements, there should be an initiator that does that, if not, then getting your 3 to do it is usually the best way to go.

As pos 4 i like to play earth spirit, clockwerk and Elder Titan.
@-Ramza-, i am an earth spirit spammer, when mid game starts i usually call a smoke gank to pick off one enemy hero before pushing or rs etc, Sometimes its ok to initiate if you have force staff, You could roll into an enemy then kick him towards your allies then fs away
roaming clock is powerful lol. if u succes gank 5 times and buy force staff to cog enemy in mid game
or buy midas to farm

I'm playing in pos 4 for a time now and my early engagements, warding and positioning are pretty good, but when comes to the mid game i'm strugling to iniciate and still alive.
I don't know if it's about the itemization or because i'm not getting xp enough when i'm not fighting or warding, so when comes a tf i'm weaker than all the others Heroes, what makes me die more and more.
I also believe that in mid game i have to iniciate the engagements in a safe position instead of jumping in, disable people and just force staff away praying to stay alive.
What do you guys think?
