Very serious MM exploit in General Discussion
Clippy

I was trying to find games of people playing Beastmaster for Battle Cup, and I came across someone doing the same exploit that the person that was 10k MMR did. Him and I ended up having a conversation about why he does it and its really serious. He uses 10 computers to play on 10 accounts at the same time. He plays 19 games a week so he doesn't show up on the MMR leader boards. He boosts the accounts up to like 8.5k then sells them for an insane amount of money, he said upwards of 5 thousand Euros for just one. This is a serious problem that needs to be stopped somehow. He's using an in game exploit to make real world money. Below are some pictures I took on my phone.

Him explaining why he does it:

    dead

not a whole lot you can do about that

steam support might do better than posting it in a forum with dead mods, the only thing functioning is the lock topic option

For real? Is there nothing in the Steam subscriber agreement that condemns people for exploiting in games for their own personal gain?

          dead

they would have done something about it already since this sht has been happening for years now

there probably is, but i think the exploiting thing is not prohibited. whats prohibited is the sharing of your personal info (account info) to other people, which is what happens when selling

what renshin means is that unless you go big with this, ie make some noise down there at reddit, valve cant do much shit about it because how is this different from common exploit cases?

              Clippy

That's sad really. I feel like it needs to be brought up to someone that can look into it further but I have no clue where to even begin.

                  Hmmmmmmmm

Well which is worst? people who scam for items(which is I think not really prevalent here in DOTA 2 unlike CS:GO and TF 2) or this?

i suggest make a post in reddit. if you have more implicating evidence against the said exploiter youd have more chance at getting this noticed because the folks at reddit are much more emotionally invested into the game, rather than the guys here in dbuff

i do support your intentions tho, i myself am very salty because he can make big bucks just because hes smart and has 10 computers

                        What vo'nith said.

Item scamming is bad, trust me I've been victim of it before. But selling accounts for 5k Euros to people that won't even keep the MMR is honestly sad and it's going to fill VHS with acc buyers.

But where does he get 10 computers in the first place, working in a shop?

I believe this exploit can be done like how the battle pass abused were; queuing to less populated regions.

Actually i dont even care about this, this guys waste 5000 Euros just to Figure out 9k Account doesnt make Them any better...

                                Clippy

Yea but think of the people that actually belong in VHS that have to deal with these people lol

This guy talked to you and you expose him to forum, probably because you are jealus of him making money.youre 1k and a snitch at the same time.lame

5k € for account, it is not like everyone can afford that in first place. Well, IMO mmr system itself creates this kind of market, since it is so hard to advance and raise mmr, some people live in delusion they are worth this and that mmr, but even more delusional is to buy 5k € 8.5k mmr account and then fall down and lose it. You got to be working for dota, or have some nice twitch donation system going on, dunno what to say, still delusional.
