I started playing him again recently. He's pretty dope. I even made a thread about him like a month ago since I've noticed he's picked more and has a pretty hefty winrate right now.
So how do you play him? I've seen everything from pos 1 to pos 5. I've had (and seen) most success with pos 3.
Thing is he doesnt need farm to hit hard, his ult is like a deso+ac up your ass. He shouldnt be 1 or 2 but he can secure a fast blink. His new sprint is so good in laning phase.
When even a pro team can run Slardar as pos 4 and still win... yep you know he's broken as fuck.
A lot of heroes are weird this way, they can be given buff after buff but no one will look at them seriously, then one certain buff happens and it becomes the straw that breaks the camel's back, bam, they're now FOTM.
Now that Slardar is viable on the back of Sprint alone, certainly it would be reasonable to nerf his STR gain and Crush?
It's not because of sprint alone, it's because Lina, Lesh and magic carries in general were nerfed, so there's now more value in a physical ganker hero. Also BH track was nerfed, so he's now the only guy who can give vision of enemy hero's allies and Rosh was buffed, so he's now the only guy who can completely dumpster his armor. And his main combo partners TA and WR before were tier-2 picks that you'd get when Lina/Storm were banned, but now they're top tier.
Yeah, woe is me for trying to play Slardar in safelane. The hero doesn't need a huge setup of items to function effectively so playing him anywhere above a pos 3 priority is actually a waste. Kinda like how Axe used to be in his heyday.
Slardar's forcestaff so cooOool try it gueys, still dagger is a must...IMO slardar is fine/still need str gain*

Okay so that's:
Amp: -20 armor
Solar: -10 armor
AC: -5 armor
Deso: -7 armor
In total, that slardar reduces armor by 42 if he commits to a target with ult and solar crest. Dear god. Considering minimum armor is -20 that might just be an overkill though, I doubt anybody had 22 armor on your team except for, maybe, that QoP.
Minimum armour limit was -20 in DotA, but you'll keep amplifying damage below that in Dota 2. So that armour reduction stacking build does actually work (but much less effective the lower it goes, so you'd still get more damage from a crit if you reach around -10 armour on them).
Most broken hero of the patch. Doom is more antifun, but Slardar is more broken. I'm gonna spam him, coz in this shit patch it's either pick Slardar/Doom or give enemy away.

but.. god knows this hero boring to play. why even play to win if your not having any fun.
you think once you achieves higher mmr you will stay there forever? nope. play for fun every game in mmr and youll probably be in the 3ks but still worth it
the moment you realise how mmr is wow nothing. you realise how much you hate dota and wasted time playing this game. when you realise winning mmr or losing mmr gives you no feelings :/. then you will buy items and compendiums but will still feel empty. always. forever.

why build more armor reduction on slardar? just build attack speed because moar bashes
moon shard and ac are very good choices
^there's a slight contradiction in your post. But yeah, AC is good for Slardar anyway, helps him tank up a lot and naturally you get it for more bashes.
@Hranilac i know, but ac gives you - armor and atk speed, and you have low armor, it's good on slardar
i mean deso is bad on him imo, and solar crest can be situational (but bad most of the time)
I know i didnt play best and it was probably wrong pick. But can someone give an advice how to build slardar better for this game? I'm used playing vs shit matchups but i couldnt kill jack shit in this game.
