Yes that is some of the downside, you can't have a private profile and track your MMR so very few people will actually be able to take advantage of the rating buddy :(
private profiles are for poosies.

it says no one but you can see your mmr but you know we can alrdy see it on dota 2
and if u want my opinion put the mmr behind the winrate/record instead of next to it, its disturbing ;// and distorts the harmony of the page
