The River - A Midwest USA based Dota 2 League in General Discussion
icebug!

    Hello!

I am starting up a Dota 2 league that is aimed at providing quarterly online tournaments to teams that are located in the Midwest of the United States. I want to focus mainly on teams that are in the Midwest since there aren't any major tournaments in this region for Dota as far as I have seen. The idea started when I was helping out with a 200 seat LAN in Iowa and we only had 3 total teams for Dota to the 10 teams that were there for ... the other major ARTS game right now. Some of the attendees as well as myself started trying our hand at casting games at this event as well. While the games might not be the best thing to watch now it was a lot of fun recording the videos and working with the other players in the casts.

What I would like to accomplish with this league is to increase the community for the Midwestern teams and players. With the quarterly tournaments I would imagine that all of the teams involved would get to know each other very well and all learn the play styles of the other teams. This should allow everyone to not only get more experience playing in engaging team matches but learn to grow in areas that would allow them to better compete against different scenarios. I am planning on figuring out a way to cast all of the bracket matches in each of the quarterly events which will also give me more experience in all aspects involving casting as well. If anyone else is interested in casting more than playing or would just like a chance to cast matches that they are not playing in we will have plenty of opportunities for people to join in. I am not really worries soo much about the quality of the casting for these tournaments (although it will get better over time) I just want to give the experience to the people that want it and as much fun as people want to have with it.

[Color=#008000] I was planning on starting the first quarterly tournament and have it take place throughout the month of October of this year. For more information (including our own forums and team registration) visit http://www.theriverdota2.com

A little about me - I have been hosting LAN parties for the public for around 10 years with events ranging in attendance from 20 - 150. I live in Iowa near Iowa City but I enjoy traveling to other LANs in the area and have traveled up to 5 hours for an event. I have been playing Dota 2 since I got into the beta sometime after TI 2 although I do have more time in watching pro games than actually playing matches. I calibrated in solo MMR at roughly 3600 but blew that away trying to play my favorite role as a support and am currently around 2100.

Let me know if you have any questions about anything involving The River and I will get you an answer as soon as possible.

TLDR; Starting a league for Midwest Dota 2 Amateur Teams/Casters http://www.theriverdota2.com if interested in playing.

I think you should get better stats, then you can make a league. You'll get bashed here.

      ♨Dacheat♨

You don't have to be Dendi to make a league.

Your MMR has like 0 bearing on whether or not you'd be a good TO.

^ Rit. It's like saying you have to sing well to organize a concert. You don't actually have to.

                          Yoshi

You can be 1mmr for all i care when you try to make a Lan tourny.
As long as you are good organizing and have experience as the OP, all is good to me.

If I was worried about my MMR I wouldn't have posted it. My Tournament Hosting MMR is over 9000 though so it doesn't bother me, haha.
