Death note was cool until about half way through and then it became too ridiculous and down right stupid for my taste.
Hunter x Hunter is alright. It is strange but at least consistent.
hunter x hunter looks very similar to yu yu hakusho for me, dunno if its the same creator
i like rurouni kenshin, until the kyoto arc, then the manga becomes great and anime shitty
i gave basilisk a chance, its ok-ish but nothing great so far, its enjoyable but its not something that gets me into it
hxh and yyh is the same author bro, hxh also has sailor moon references because his wife is the author of sailor moon
the only bad thing about hxh is the chimera ant arc, it was too long but the last fights were good
hxh and yyh are both rly good :D
and as someone else said death note is legit until it starts getting dull... still super good recommend 10/10
I don't like Basilisk, I got bored to the death on episode 2 or so. Death Note had a good start, but everyone there became retarded.
Personally, if it's about popular anime, I would recommend Code Geass. It's somewhat similar to Desu Noto, but with a much deeper characters' development. As a minus, it does has some fanservice (not regular pantsushots though).
But you should name the genre you like, before I can recommend you something concrete.
i didnt like geass... so i stopped rly early and i think i saw basilisk and it was good but i dont remember its so old...
@epsik, do you have anything ninja/samurai related? samurai champloo dont seem to be good, i've read immortal blade manga and it was ok
My friend stated watching Geass once, didn't like it and dropped it. After some time, he tried it once more and now it's his favorite anime.
It's actually a real masterpiece, on pair with Gurren Lagann and Katanagari.
But, well, no need to watch it, if you don't like the genre
@SLEAVE
If it's manga, then Rurouni Kenshin (also known as "Samurai X") is the best choice. Anime adaptation is also decent, but contains a lot of fillers.
Last part of manga was adapted via OVAs. They say it's very good, I didn't watch them myself, only read manga.
Samurai Champloo is quite decent, actually, but it lacks deep storyline. Still, animation of battles is among the best you'll find in anime.
Katanagari is "sorta" samurai and ninja related, but it's different kind of weed.
Edit:
Sword of the Stranger is quite good movie in terms of action.
Samurai Deeper Kyo is decent manga, not sure about anime.
Also, there are various "7 Samurai", "Ninja's manuscript" and such. Some people like them, but I personally do not.
epsik im a big fan of rurouni kenshin, the best serie ive watched/read so far
what do you tell me about this katanagari, read great recommendations but i dont know what sort of story is it
its that silly gotta collect dem swordz style or its deep?
Asking. I've seen some episodes and liked them, but I was almost always busy when it aired here. I've thought about starting to read it, so how is it?
@Zano
It's awesome, try it.
@Sleave
In short, Katanagari is one of the best anime series I ever saw. And I watched and read a lot.
It is deep as fuck, but not in the usual way. There'll be almost no shit like "LOOK our anime is so deep!" which is overused in named Death Note.
Great storyline, interesting characters, awesome visuals. It will be great even if you just watch it without thinking. But if it gets you, it's a love.
Seems that everyone on this forum has a dislike for death note.
I won't force it on ur throat, I'll just give you some pros and cons
watch death note if
-you like mental battles
-you like deceiving and schemes
-you don't search for a happy go round protagonist
-you like darker themes
-you have any tiny interest regarding psychology
do not watch if:
-if you are bored when there is too much talking
-if you like a more happy theme
-if you feel that its cheesy
-if you want action
All in all its one of my fav anime but then again my choices are not the same as yours. What I usually do when I want to start a new anime series is watching 2 or 3 episodes. If by then it still hasn't hooked me up I'll prob. quit it.
give it a chance, if you don't like it nobody forces you to watch it.
^
I did that too.
Just watch 2-3 episodes -> decide
This series Aldnoah zero luckily started to get exciting in the mid of episode 3
i hope the main character will not use any illogical or nonsense way to beat their overpowered opponent
I'll stop watching this series if that happened
"Dont watch death note. It's very meh.
Melody-San "
By reading this you just know that its a must watch.
Fun fact: that whole MLP thing is extremely similar to Touhou.
Problem with Death Note is that it starts well, but becomes illogical trash half way through. If you are fine with good anime series becoming trash, you should totally watch it - first half is good.
But I don't like this stuff, so I don't like Desu Noto. That's the same reason I don't like Soul Eater too.
Hmm, anime adaptation of ninja-girls beat'em'up?
How about "NO"?
@epsik and that's why many people have a bad opinion on anime.
thank god there are anime with a much more serious theme rather than the usual goofy go round
damn it ... my preaching has been denied TT>TT
back to main topic..
overall Death Note loses its grace when L asdjhwjdwagyfgwaudsancnwkjbdiwibfwand
Basilisk is one of my favourite anime. I like the female characters in it. I might rewatch it some day.
watch steins;gate duudeeee
chaos;head steins;gate and robotics;notes are pretty good anymays
I think it is indeed legit for kids under 18 to watch it. There is no law that will persecute any anime watchers. At least not any law that i know of.
i don't even watch animes and shit like that and saw deathnote both movies and animated series
Gintama or GTO. New anime it's only to attract people who love to say "kawaii" or "2deep4u".
Oh and who love to see TITS everywhere and nudity.
^ i find your post offensive... i have watch a lot of ecchi and harem .. i can assure you most of them dont really focus on tits there's actually a good storyline to it.
to name a few:
Love Hina
Highschool Dxd
Solely picked adaptation of VN's single route can't be best by default. There's a ton of deaths in VNs.
It's not even a harem. Classical date-sim.
Btw, best harem manga (again, excluding HnG) is "Ai Kora".
Actually, "Isekai" is a part of a big fantasy universe, has outstanding main character and deep, logical (despite being a fantasy) world.
"Ai Kora" is a masterpiece in terms of actually solving "harem" problem instead of just throwing it at the reader as an ecchi content.
You shouldn't judge something by its genre/name/whatever. I can tell you about doujinshi "Masturbation Master Kurosawa" that will be best school love drama you'll ever see, but you won't read it because of its name.

i started watching basilisk and its pretty ok-ish but im getting bored (currently at episode 8)
what about death note
