Yes, because of your calibration you may be doing better in non-ranked then in ranked. You had a hidden MMR that your initial MMR was based off.
Your hidden MMR must be higher than your Ranked MMR.

my MMR is higher than my hidden MMR so whenever i play unraked i get matched in the bracket i really belong and not the bracket i am calibrated at (i was hoping to practice some unranked so i wouldnt ruin everyone's else game)

My solo ranked MMR is 3k and my party ranked is 3.3k. I try not to play solo nowadays because my rating is getting terrible. So I left it at 3k and played party only. Well today I had nobody to play with, and I was pretty Dota hungry, so I just queued a solo unranked game. I won it easily enough with tinker, and when I checked dotabuff, it stated that it's a high skill game. If I remember correctly, a high skill game would be around 3.5k? Does normal games have different ratings than ranked games?
