You probably play with people like me who have very good english skills and have somewhat american accents when they speak.
"I think we should, like, go and take roshan while they're down guys".
Consider that most of the English lessons you will get on the internet or through any other training material is all American. While their accent is fucking awful and harsh it is more easy to understand that say some of the more British ones.
Consider that both Australian and American english were both born of low class prisoners who had lazy, bad, slang English which is basically what most people in the world know so it sounds american with a tint of their native accent in it. I used to live in the US for about 3 years on a work trip and people here in the UK still think I am American or Canadian.
TL;DR The US accent is a lot easier to pick up than a British one.

I am curious to know, it might be my imagination but I hear american accents on most of my pub VOIPs and it's gotten me so curious.
