Teammate Abandons, what happens to my stats? in General Discussion

I just looked at my first few Ranked MM games, and I noticed that I won the first ten games, not counting those where a teammate abandoned. However, my MMR calibrated at 1.8K. It's pretty much gone constantly up, and now is at 3k.

My question is, do these games with someone else abandoning count as calibration games? I can't think why else my MMR would be so much lower at the end of calibration, and then go up immediately after.

    Thanks!

    Hopeless

the abandon has nothing to do with your calibration.

you are 1.8k because you are a 1.8k player.

probably. Or maybe the matchmaker screwed the algorithm
@concede pay attention he said he is at 3k now

They probably counted. Stats don't count for a match (in-game) when there is an abandon both before 5min AND before first blood. In order to get an abandon you need to either leave the game and manually abandon from the "Play" menu, or be d/ced for several minutes. The chances that this happened and someone didn't just rage after a kill or two are actually somewhat low - abandon-wise. I also don't know if these rules are slightly different for ranked MM.

A match also doesn't count if a player never picks a hero.

If it's any consolation the abandon counts as a loss for the abandon-er even if their team wins.

I think you calibrated when you were new to the game in general, most of the players that play 1 or 2 months of dota calibrate at around ~2000 mmr. I believe this is your first account, am i right?

It doesn't matter. Calibration games account for more stats than just winning or losing. It means during his calibration games he didn't have a statistical impact.

After calibration, winning and losing is all that matters.

i lost 8 out of my 10 games and still had 4k mmr

@Hearts Get Together it's likely seeded by your non-ranked MMR

Yeah, this is my first account, hadn't played DotA 1, so I did stuff like build arcanes + bloodstone, forget to stack before pull, and never used side shop. I'm not really upset about Ranked now since I can still go up, just curious about how it works.

                      @Fortsie
I did the same things :). Some people just go smurf and get 4k but i suggest to stick with your main account and slowly raise mmr.

                        My personal opinion is:
Be in 1.8k don't make you better at all, and if u want to get higher you have to:
1.- Get a metod for win all games like learn to play tinker and stomp to more mmr
2.- Play a good support to do your carrys beter, following the rule my carrys sucks but the other team carrys sucks aswell.
3.- To do a smurf, in this forum do a smurf account is bad considered, but i was on 2.2 and with the smurf i can play better games, Really much more better, and improve my skills that those was stacked in 2.2k.

I dont know if i explained it well, but i tried.
