744 Dire - 742 Radiant :P never noticed this before, it's the same for nearly all my friends

All my friends have way more dire. I just checked the top players, they all seem to have more dire, the top guy has 542 dire and 30 radiant

how is that possible?

you can't just be Dire all the time, it's meant to be random.

Weird. Well, if some people are more dire, there will be people who are more radiant like that guy.
I'd like to know how the matchmaking chooses which team is radiant and which is dire.

What you have said makes sense. If it was truly random we wouldn't see such a huge standard deviation. The distribution of Dire to Radiant suggests there is a system in-place controlling (somewhat) which team we are put on.

actually alot of people dodge when on dire side cuz radiant is so much easier for laning especialy with heroes like sf tinker /etc

I guess it takes more than few thousand matches for higher chance of the ratio being 1:1

also radiant appears to have a much higher win rate than dire

I worked out that less than 275 radiant games in 768 total games is 1 in ~1000000000000000 if it's 50% chance for each faction, so I'm pretty sure something else is going on

Interesting, i have 300 games more on radiant than dire, ~4.5% differential.. i never dodge games to play on specific sides.

Got a 10% winrate difference from Radiant and Dire. I mean I offlane 95% of the times now so I guess that benefits my Radiant winrate but 10%? Holy shit...

offlane dire makes me want to smash baby seals. In a pub as offlane that cant jungle as dire you are basically fucked if they zone you out

Its not a 50% chance to be on either side. When you play in parties you're more likely to be placed on the Dire side. When in a 5 stack you're significantly more likely to be on Dire side. If you play solo your'e more likely to be Radiant. Wasn't this introduced into matchmaking around 6.78?

Radiant might have better lanes, that's why they made Roshan easier to kill for Dire.

1195 radiant, 917 dire

and about 400 games of solo last hit train anti mage xD ~66 hours

The winrate is more questionable to me...

But as i understand it, you will have more radiant games if you play solo, and more dire games if you party more often.
