It was like this since the start. If you don't have enough friends you played with that are in your friends list, it adds your friend's friends if he/she played in same party. Basically a party member is like a friend ;)

he was never in my party either, he just played with me bcause the MM system wanted to.
^ It's because API doesn't inform you about parties. All you get is a list of 10 players from any given match. If you got lucky and queued with the same person 3 times, it will look like you are friends - because the probability of you not being friends is really low.

So yeah during the rmm i met a guy named qq 3 times. I never added him nor did he add me, yet for some reason hes listed as a 'friend'.
