From what i have read it is a visible number for you ranked play. But what I didn't pick out was any drastic changes to the matchmaking system. It was a long write up(i read it in game, think i ended up skipping thru it as it went on), is their a mention of any huge changes to the way the numbers are generated? Or will the community just have to dig thru the shifts and evaluate the flaws.
The discrepancy between experience (measured by the number of games played) between the least experienced player and the most experienced player is minimized. More on this below.
thats bullshit tho, im more experiented that everyone out there with my low pool of games
That took about 2 years, lol. Wonder how long will it take legion commander and techies to come out? Summer 2014?
It's actually not Gabe making these changes I think. Do you think how much part Bill Gates took in making of Windows 8? Yes right, 0. When you have way too much money, you pretty much get people to do your shit for you.
@Sam Fuckin' Peckinpah
Gaben does play a large part in decisions like this. He talks about MMR here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhgOqyZHBIU&feature=youtu.be&t=19m54s
I said "I think" and still that's what he should be doing anyway right?
"You may not participate in ranked matchmaking while in the low priority pool." Nice.
"Matches played in normal matchmaking do not impact your ranked matchmaking MMR, and vice versa."
Finally I can "safely" learn new heroes, I mean I want to learn Invoker but I'm too scared so far to try him in a real game. It's like your "shi.-account", you don't need a new account now.
"When you first start using ranked matchmaking, you will enter a calibration phase of 10 games. During this time, your ranked MMR will not be visible."
Pls don't give me trolls in these game or...
"Win/loss is the primary criteria used to update MMR, but individual performance also plays a role, especially when our uncertainty about your MMR is high. It is possible for an individual MMR to increase after a loss or decrease after a win, but in general the winning team’s average MMR will increase and the losing team’s MMR will decrease." Interesting.
And please, read the rest, A LOT of other interesting stuff to read there, finally they let us know all this.
Now I can hide my games, and claim to have an awesome MMR that no one will ever know because I dont have friends.
Coming soon in just 2 Valve months!
...I've noticed a trend in which every time I make fun of Valve time, we get stuff faster than expected :D
