Wait, there are really people with over 1,000 games played that are still in normal bracket?!
Yes its normal, people queue with their noobsfriends and suddenly play in normal bracket to rape other guys. Also many normal bracket player are very decent and have experience but they are doomed to play there because they are the support type of player.
^
there, look at him. Supportplayer, shitty wr, prolly good and experienced player, doomed to play with tards.
Isn't normal like 85% of players? So by definition some players will never move up. You're rated on a curve, can't have everyone getting A's.
Actually he has good WR with supports( not very good but still more than 50%(61% with nyx)). but those pudge and undying games pulled him down.
also he has a stackmate who usually plays carry so they can't blame team for everything.
Number of games doesnt matter. I've played dota 1 for 3-4 years. I understand mechanics but have been always a shit player. It's only when people start taking initiative to start improving is when you actually improve. I've got friends who are at 1k games and still in normal bracket. Why? They don't bother to actually improve. They play for the sake of pub stomping. This means that the games they lose, they blame matchmaking and they never consider their own mistakes.
Someone else said on this forum it was like 85% normal bracket and I think they had valve quotes. I'll see if I can find it.
Here it is:

Valve said it was a "bug" which kept players with low games NOT being able to play against and with others who has over 1000 games. (it sounds fucking stupid but valve actually said this)

- Fixed a bug in the matchmaker that was causing it to insufficiently segregate players based on win count

that's valve for you, either 5 stack or deal with it. i've seen several players with 1 win on the front page and they were solo queuing, this is pretty hilarious but now it's just fucking sad, valve should revert it before they drop down to 200k players userbase
heres another game, this pudge had 0 wins and 2 games played.

it was obviously on the front page and again, pudge was solo queuing

...is it normal to play against people who have over 1,000 games played in a normal match when you only have around 100 games played yourself?

My friend was the Drow Ranger in this game and he is transitioning from WC3 Dota to Dota 2, so he has some experience. Despite that, he's only played 5 matches so far in matchmaking so far and doesn't have a Dotabuff profile.
The Chaos Knight on our team was an obvious noob, while the Timbersaw player couldn't figure out how to play him until the very end of the game.
Only Pudge seemed to know what he was doing, and he still was a pretty average or below-average player like most of the people on the team (including myself).
We were up against a relentless Weaver and Anti-mage who were farming off of the very new people all game.
I know this might be another matchmaking whining thread, but it's from the perspective of someone who is newer to the game and doesn't even have anywhere close to a 50% ratio because whenever I get wins in the game, somehow I get placed against people FAR, FAR above my skill level with at least 1 or 2 total newbies on my team.
I think if you were to introduce people to the game, having to face heroes that get 20 kills in 20 minutes is daunting. It's the reason why I can't get my other friends to do matchmaking in Dota.
