most true 1k players dont really care about improving, they are laziest players in the game for the most part, but as more internationals come and they keep watching they slowly pick things up.
I'm not sure what the best way is now, but back when I played Dota 1, having 1v1 matches against each other, while commenting on what and why he needs to do, etc was a really quick way to help someone get a hang on the laning phase at least.
Kindness to the point of being dumb is a mediocre trait, yet utterly useless.
Stop this bullshittery right here. Spreading more of this bullshit would place 1k players with the mindset of "I'm better than 9k mmr"
no it's meant for the 1k players who know they are a bit higher skill then the other ones around them to realize some methods to help them get to the next bracket, but this also applies to 2k players.
Consider my comment non-existent then.
Still, you shouldn't badmouth people trying to help, at least as long as they don't go delusion-levels with the discussion, but that's not happening here.

EDIT:*Removed this part to avoid offensive stuff to the kind guy.*
To people defending this 1k players.
I just watched a random 13 year old kid in a cafe with 1.4k mmr play DoTA 2.
He first picks Anti - Mage only buys stout and goes to lane. (I still held my anger within) places Vanguard on quick buy.
I tell him to go for a Battle Fury as you won't be needing Vanguard if you are just gonna be farming for 40 mins to win the game.
I'll translate what he said to me "Don't act like you're smart you jerk, if you're so tough, I bet 1v1 me and I will win against you."
Next thing he does is auto attack creeps. "Dude, I know I'm being quite rude, but if you keep on doing that you're gonna push and certainly miss all possible last hits. He says "Is this your game? Are you really gonna put that act up and be a little smart douchebag?"
At this stage I was just about to leave the cafe when he suddenly said "So are you gonna run? Scared to 1v1?"
I got pissed at this little brat and did the 1v1. I was KoTL and he played Invoker. I was 4-0 and he said KoTL is imba.
It is a waste of time and kindness, believe me.
Well, not everyone will be able to learn from things we tell them, but that's no reason to assume everyone is as stupid as said kid.
We can give advices, and hope it will help, there's no damage in that. Who is already bad will stay bad, those kind of people woulldn't learn from flaming either.
Note that I'm not defending one person in particular, just the idea of giving - maybe helpful - advices.
It's my own personal experience so I guess it's me being delusional right now.
Fine I accept the fact there are players that aren't delusional as you said.
Still if you're gonna do stuff like this, better to do tips and tricks for them rather than defensive supreme court stuff.
Becomes obvious early on I'm in trouble -- Bane wards across the river when our tier 1s are down and rages about not pushing the way he wants to. I point we need wards around base because no vision, he flames me and refuses to ward/do anything rest of game.
Jugg/WK pretty bad too, Pudge is pretty good. He and I get a lot of kills, no pushes because team is dumb. I just farm, get flamed for not joining bad fights. Eventually get strong enough to teamfight 3/4 of them, but it's too late. Bane continues to feed all game.
Only alternative here would have been to go full retard and go along with Bane's pushes....I didn't think he'd go full troll and we'd be 4v5 rest of game.
So it goes. I played well so just write these off as whatcha gonna do?
^ dont pick such a weak carry as slark. Go Medusa and you can fight 1v5 if your Farmed. Trust me if all you want is to grind mmr just learn to lasthit and spam Medusa its ez to get 5k this way i did it on my own. While im 3 k scrub. Actually all the way from 3 k to 5 k spamming Medusa and sometimes omni i improved a whole lot. Just by watching better players.
^ good points. It was random draft and I took slark early because no one was picking and we were gonna lose gold. Wish Spectre/Dusa had been around, I'd have taken her and this would have, I think, gone different.

ok. mmr is a grind and rewards people that put in the effort.. what is your take on regional differences? particularily cn? more people = more grind?

I mean, come on, Farix, if you want to call "kindness" dumb, at least know that you should not die 10+ times casually all the time.
@Chimi-Cherry-Changa I was lag my recent 8 games, you can check my past ones for the unlaggy ones.

Yeah, I don't agree with that part either.
But let toxic players be toxic, and let's hope some players can learn.
Here's a question for you Cookie: what did you focus on improving during that 1.5 year climb? Whole game, or specific aspects/roles/heroes?
A 5k that would lose a Normal skill Game
What is the console command to see your behavior score?
