learn the basics of the game, watch some tutorials by pro's about how to carry/support, safelane/midlane/offlane/jungle, decision making, warding, zoning
I think there is a pretty nice tutorial on supporting from ppd, and there are a few good tutorials about the game in general from AUI_2000
also:
Win the all hero challenge 2 times in a row, maybe even 3 times, so it gives you a clue about what a hero is capable of and how to position against certain heroes. If you feel like you got 2 (or 3) lucky wins on that hero, play him more to see what strats are good against that hero.
The main part of the game is to know what your enemie knows and take advantage of it.
The most dangerous thing is the illusion of knowledge and skipping something saying "oh, i know that".
Try watching your own games, analyse them and figure out what's your weakness. If you figure out what's your weakness at and improve it overtime, I guarantee you, you will climb, glhf :)
Watching your own games might be a good advice, but it would be better to first be sure that you know what you are looking at.
Take this for an example, you can check your code after coding if you know what you are writting, but until you learn a lot about coding it all looks good if it compiles.
If you half an hour or even 2 hours just watch this coaching from purge for slacks(who has 4.7k):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1i5ogmxO1BU
Basicly anything what purge puts online is good material. He is really good at talking while playing, I don't know how he does that tbh. I can't even sing along a song while I play the game.
^agreed purge is good to watch, I recommend also watching his game were he coaches 1-2k mmr players,
side note cant believe slacks has 4.8k mmr
chicken rice is delicious af so im pretty sure chicken rice won't stay in 2k for long 4head
