according to new playstation's price and release date ($399,$499) if you consider buying ps5 and not give a shit about xbox (as most ppl do) which version will you buy (digital or dvd)

and have u planned any special time for buying it (like next year)or as soon as it release?

    rawr

You get what you pay for. Don't be a fool and think these new consoles can compete with even a below average gaming computer. Sure they get a price advantage from buying in bulk which partially explains the low price but the rest of the low price comes from low quality mass production. These things are essentially the same as buying a laptop for gaming. It simply doesn't make sense, unless your a little kid who cant afford a real computer.

Srs question. What is even the point of buying these over priced consoles now, the gaming era is over u guys the best games ever made are in the past, now all we have is money making copies that are not as good. If I buy a console I'll buy a PS3 or xbox-360 for very cheap price and buy Cod MW, Cod black ops, Uncharted, Heavy rain, GTA, Dead space... What new games can even compare to those classics.

imagine paying 400$ for console and after that pay for each game u wanna play. i rather play on a wooden pc and pirate games.

Rather scoop an N64 and play the original super smash brothers than 99% of these trash games today.

well, I love nostalgic games once upon a time I had SEGA, then Ps1 , ... even now after all these years I would die for gettin back to those times with "Mortal kombat 2, Tiny toon adventures, Golden axe, Streets of rage, Tekken,RE4, Crash racing, Mario tennis,.."

remastered version of these games remind us of old times and they have succeeded. these are made to be played on consoles not pc

about now a days' I still believe there are great games: "Gow, Marvel's spiderman, RDR2, Ghost of tsushima, Persona 5,..."
not great as I mentioned above but still can entertain us

Who would buy a console when you can get an RTX 3080 which utterly outcompetes any console for a one time payment of $700 and then just buy games for cheap on the internet or pirate them. You actually have to be a clown to buy a console at this point, Nvidia killed any hype for them imo. Only reason to ever get a Playstation was for the exclusives and now those are being released on PC anyway, now there is absolutely no reason to get a console.

ps5's Digital version is so fckin udervalue!! only $399
I think comparing Pc and consoles is not true, some games need you to sit on couch with friends with special controllers behind TV. exmp it has %100 better experience playin Rocket league,A way out, Overcooked with friends on console than fckin pc! (I even believe some single-player games like GOW,Spiderman give a better experience than pc)

pc is better for games like Cod series, Portal2, L4D, Minecraft, or strategic ones Crusader kings

nothing better comes out of console's. Yes, some games might be better than PC's but dont forget once new gen console comes out you need to change it otherwise ps5 games wont work on ps4 console while on PC in my PC i've changed only my GPU since it died and i got my PC around 5-10 years somewhere in between and in the mean time ps3 people changed their console to ps4. New games costs double the PC's and dont forget in order to play multiplayer you need to pay subs while in PC its FREE and games cost cheaper. And if you make powerfull PC u might not need to change it in the next 10 years if games doesn't sky rocket through the ceiling.

a pc's CASE with ps5's specs will cost more than $1800, also playstaion-Xbox managers guarantee their new gen consoles to sup games for future 10 years

and how many console's did u needed to buy in order to be able to play previous console's versions games? Costing around 600$ each? ps3,ps4,ps5 if you buy it new you'll probably spend the same amout of money you said. 3x600=1800$ and as i said. With this amount of money you would be able to get strongest PC's ever and you won't need to change your PC every 5 years unless something good release like rtx 3080. Nothing can change my mind about buying console over pc. Console's are overhyped and they change way too often. And don't forget once you buy console you can't change its hardware youre stuck with it forever however once bought new PC you can change its part however you want. You even can build it yourself while consoles doesnt give you that extra.

Is this guy retarded? You can build a PC with similar performance to the PS5 for about $700, and this is at the start of the console cycle, in 2 or 3 years time you will be able to easily build a PC just as powerful as a PS5 for under $500. Please dont talk about things you know nothing about. For $1800 you will have significantly more power than the PS5 (probably two or three times the power). The fact that a number of PS5 titles are frame locked at 4k30fps speaks volumes about the lack of performance compared to even the RTX 3080 which allows you to ray trace at 60fps; and again this is just at the start of the console cycle, imagine the hardware on offer to PC gamers in a few years time. If PC already outcompetes Playstation 5 at launch day imagine how hard PS5 will be behind by 2023. I think you have to be a very casual gamer to buy console now there really is no reason why you would buy one other than for exclusive titles and the portability.

                                    if ure hardcore console fan and you buy it new every time (calculations) ps1 release 3 dec 1994; ps2 march 4 2000; ps3 11 nov 2003; ps4 2013 15 nov; ps5 2020;

I've changed multiple PC's but my recent once is my laptop 8y.o. + still working; and my gaming PC 5y.o.+ when there were gtx 700 series only and ddr3 and i havent changed anything and even when i had to upg my GPU from 760 ti to 1050 ti 4gb i spend donly 150$ for new. For those ps3-ps5 17 years lets say after 2010 i've had 2 my own PC's which i didnt had to change because something new came out. Mean while if uve purchased every console and most 3A's game as new and u had subs to play multiplayer you indeed have wasted more money than a guy with a PC.

@bambooni you are right but ps4 will still support games well for some years. and I think 7 years is enough for a console (ps4) though they have promised this new one will support for 10 years.

Yes this link to clueless people speculating about ps5's price back in March and talking about 16GB VRAM cards costing $2000 in a world before the new gen of graphics cards was even revealed is really applicable to the present day, thanks for sharing.

The 3080 IS 2-3x more powerful than the PS5's gpu for $700. The PS5 is a medium range gaming rig. The FACT is that you can build a PC with comparable performance to a PS5 for $500, and for $1000-$2000 you will have machine with 3x the power of the PS5 that comes with all the real-life flexability and perks of having a PC. This is also assuming that you dont already own a gaming computer to upgrade. I will be spending $700 to replace my 1080ti with a 3080 and maybe if im feeling it I will boost my RAM from 16 to 32GB, which will cost maybe $100. Ive spent $800 in total to upgrade my computer to have 3 times the performance of a Playstation 5 at the start of the console cycle, what I am getting for 160% of the price of a PS5 is a machine with 300% the performance, a fraction of the running cost to buy games, and infinitely more versatility since I use my PC for all my studying and work tasks.

the only longevity between console's is ps3 2003 - ps4 2013 - 10 years and ps4-ps5 7 years which is fine for upgrade, but the rest is like buying new hardware every 3 years just because new thing is out. And as for price dont forget that every country has different price. And since im not into overclocking or RGB case, ram, etc... my PC will be even cheaper.

Well making new PC with rtx 3080; 2x16GB ddr4 2666mhz; 3TB HDD; i9-10900; super flower leadex titanium, 1000W; ssd 500GB a full PC build cost 2464$ this is almost the most powerful PC i can make in my country. I could chose better parts but i decided this. (I'm only comparing prices to his 1.8k console i aint buying it)

Imagine thinking PS3 came out in 2003, is anyone in this forum actually knowledgeable about anything??

well, you guys are right it is better to get a pc and upgrade it (though you can sell your last console and purchase a new one)

and yes console's prices are different in random countries

so the result is gettin one pc will be cheaper rather than changin consoles but talking about new graphic prices, can you estimate what exactly will a pc with ps5's specs COST? $700? (with a new brand mouse and keyboard)

                                                ETd

Well, I currently have XBox One X, PS4 Pro, and a Switch for current gen, and previous gen I had both a PS3 Slim and PS3 Super-Slim
So I'm probably gonna buy the PS5 around 2022 when the PS5 Pro, or whatever updated model of the PS5, comes out. I never get the first model of the new console generation, I wait for a bit, see if the console has games which are worth it, see if any hardware flaws need fixing with updated models. I'd often play in friends' houses anyways.
On top of that, I have the PC building craze, so I'm probably gonna look to build another new PC soon, which will take precedence over the new console generation.

well for 700$ i can buy rtx 3080 and change nothing in my PC either way my hole system will be bottleneck. If you've purchased recently new PC and supports intel's latest CPU's and ddr4 you can change 1 part till the old one brakes or you find good deal for the new. Console's are not bad, but aint great. And thinking that console's are better or cheaper than PC's to me this is meh. Its your choice if you want to purchase console or PC. But in PC you can do a lot more than console. You can even purchase 1k$ PC and it'll be better than the current ps5 console. The only console i considering to buy was nintendo switch due to legend of zelda (never played it) :D

also if you currently own i7 CPU from the high-high end or whatever theyre called gen's the only think you might need is to update your GPU either way you'll be able to run video games just fine. And by the time ps6 comes out you may not need to change anything in your PC unless something brakes. And when people starts buying rtx 3k series i dont think they'll change anything any time soon.

                                                      Salty

If I'm not mistaken the Demon Souls remake will also come to PC, so I don't think there's a reason to buy ps5 at all.

There have been many videos about "400 dollar PC console killer", how they build a computer that can match the capabilities of a console which is priced around the area, for older generations. I'm interested to see if PC parts manufacturers will be able to do the same until now. A lot of times, those videos actually show a PC that comes CLOSE, but doesn't actually beat, a console of the same price range, but you will always have upgrade opportunity with a PC, to eventually push your performance past the mark. You can't do that with consoles, unless you buy a new updated model (example PS4, you sell it and get a PS4 Pro), or you buy the new generation(PS5).

Honestly, little to no difference. PS4 Pro is supposedly stronger in all aspects, but I only felt the difference between it and the original PS4(used my friend's PS4) when in 4K gaming. Like, I played FIFA 19 on his PS4 and my PS4 Pro, any performance bonus in load times, graphical quality, processing speed was negligible. I played God of War, there sure you can see a difference.
I wasn't a fan of the Xbox One's performance, considering it was supposedly "better". Keep in mind I had comparison of both latest, top-of-the-line models, because both PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.

                                                                Dunning-Kruger-Doto

All those fancy graphics titels are boring after 20h of playing. Gameplay beats graphics. So why jerk off to the graphics power?

Thing with console is: Its more casual and has its purpose. You sit on the couch and play a round of fifa or in my case Mario Kart with friends. I bought the switch for the exclusive titels and the easy multiplayer exp. while beeing in the same room. I bought the ps3 excl. for god of war and for my girlfriend, since he likes spyro the dragon and ratchet and clank.

Getting a pc system is always more expensive. Having a 500,- EUR PC and you still do not have a screen (150,- EUR), a mouse (40,- EUR) and a Keyboard (40,- EUR), considering you get cheap stuff. You will most likley have tv in your household.

I also have a pc. So get over this console vs. pc war kiddos.

                                                                  TheRedemptionArc

usually when people buying new PC they've monitor, mouse and keyboard the only think they might buy is windows and the same can be said by console's. You need to buy joystick 50eu or so headphones if needed another 50 +- or if you want to play with a friend another joystick for the same price and once new console comes out you can't use ps1 joystick on ps5 right? Or ps3 on ps5? Meanwhile im using my keyboard 5-8 years without changing it. The only things i change is mouse and headphones from time to time. Also remember that you can't record videos at least i think if needed with console and u need to buy ex.hardware. And monitors, keyboards they live way longer than "cough" controller joystick. And i'm sure i've wasted less than 500$ (after PC purchase) for my gaming pc from ps3-ps5 hardware. Once ps6 comes out you need to buy the console again right? And when it comes out i won't even waste more money on a hardware i would stick 7 years when PC master race is evolving.
And let me ask you what you can do on your console besides gaming? uh, nothing? @Dunning-Kruger-Doto. Console's are more expensive than PC's and people don't underestand that they look the short circumstances rather the longetivity. And when new version of PS5 comes out like ps4,xbox i don't need to buy new PC while if you want the best of it you ned to spend another 500$

                                                                    Oldman

Imo PS 5 is worth it. Its still cheaper to play Cyberpunk on it that buying new PC.

                                                                      TheRedemptionArc

thats what im saying. I've i5-4670; 2x4gb ddr3 1600mhz, 1050ti 4gb (changed from 760ti), 1080p and i don't even need to spend 500$ to buy new console in order to play cyberpunk and another 120$ for the game mean while people might buy the new console for cyberpunk and waste 500$

                                                                        '96 Neve Campbell

But cyberpunk will be better on pc. Pretty sure u wont be able to play it in 4k60 with ray tracing and shit on a ps5

                                                                          TheRedemptionArc

well right now i play only on 1080p and i don't intend on going any beyond and i care less about rtx or 4k. The only think i might update when i purchase new PC it'll be the herz from 60 to 144 herz 1080p i will go for and a 2nd monitor
