aquilla is not needed, double null is ok, even triple null is good
in a 1v1 you will never ever be able to get upgraded boots or even an aquila oO you will need cheap stats+lots of regen
I think nulls are more efficient than aquila. Aquila is great partly because it can be disassembled later for pike.
1v1 is not a measure of skill. Dota is a team game. And it's also why it's harder to climb out of 1k trench because there's no semblance of teamplay. I could defeat 3k players easily in a 1v1. They aren't magically better because of higher mmr. Maybe I'll lose on an unfamiliar hero but that's because I'm not a mid player to begin with.
If I played against you (3k 4k player doesn't matter) I could still win easily. Doesn't mean I'm better than you at Dota. Dota is a team game. Sad to say. 1v5 is a stupid myth perpetuated by players with higher ratings to show off that they have some skill that others don't have. But if they have a bad team they are just as likely to lose.
Since it's a 1v1, Quas Wex seems to be the naturally better option. Phase boots is better in that case. Have you played it or are yet to?

@Han yolo you are plain bad and that's why you don't climb, if you are better than other people in your Brackett you will automatically climb, I grinded from 190 mmr. Just don't spit out things like u can beat a 3k player even in a 1v1

if you are going to buy an upgraded boots, I think its better to get PT instead of phase (synergize well with alacrity). Exort is best on 1 vs 1 invoker. I think that the game will simply end because of destroyed tower since there's barely any kill potential early on. try stacking camps and meteor it to outfarm him.
based on what I was on sumiya's games, prioritize exort and quas, your forge spirit will make your HP trade much better and last hit easier and aquila allows you to spam forge spirit nonstop.
you practice more and watch more pro player do, and just copy their style. Invoker aint a strong pick this patch, it won't excel well in rank if you don't play it well. But obviously the basic switching ur ball regularly, base on ms, reg and damage. Don't over committee into helping your team unless it result in killing enemy core, support doesnt give jack shit to you. Asking for your support to gank their enemy mid can give invoker some early advantage as in most hero just fucking rekt him 1v1 early mid.
